Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Drew Barron!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Baker!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baker scores with a three punch combo!
Baker has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Barron is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Baker shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Barron eats them both and turns towards Baker to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Baker looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Baker slips under a jab.
Baker misses with a head kick.
Baker just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBarron.
Baker throws a lazy body kick

and Barron counters by moving into the clinch.
Barron pushes Baker back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Baker throws a head punch that misses.
I was talking to Barron's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Barron misses with a hook to the ribs.
Barron lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Barron throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Bakers head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Baker.

Barron breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Barron jabs at Baker's body.
Barron throws a front kick aimed at Baker's knee but Baker avoids it well.
Baker appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Brian Baker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barron has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Barron there as he acknowledges the shot.
Baker throws a right hand that misses
and Barron counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Brian Baker has been cut.

Baker blocks a head kick by Barron.
Baker is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Baker thuds a left hand into Barron's body.
Baker thows a left - swing and a miss!
Barron swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Barron throws a body punch but Baker moves out of range.
Barron tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Baker was well out of range. Poor timing from Barron.
Baker moves away from the strike by Barron.
Barron misses with an uppercut.
Barron closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Baker slips under a jab from Barron.
Baker doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Baker misses with an uppercut. Barron saw that one coming.
Baker is looking to slow Barron down with leg kicks.
A combination from Baker does no damage.
Baker steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Barron.
Barron throws a series of strikes that have Baker backpedaling.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Baker lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Barron throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Barron slips under a jab.
Barron swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Barron throws a looping overhand right but Baker ducks down to avoid it.
Baker pushes Barron away with a front kick.
Baker fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Barron.
Barron moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Baker lands a jab to the nose.
An inside leg kick lands from Barron.
Baker lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Barron backs up against the cage.
Barron ducks under a wild hook from Baker.
Baker has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Barron finds it's way round the side to connect with Baker's head.
Barron stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Baker.
A big left from Baker misses.
Baker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Baker walks into a stiff left hand from Barron.
Baker looks to land a combination but Barron avoids it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baker throws an off balance right hand
and Barron counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Barron checks a leg kick.
Barron jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Baker throws a lazy body kick
and Barron counters with a slapping leg kick.
Baker connects with a single shot there.
Baker pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Baker throws a lazy right hand but Barron sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Barron scoring well with a low kick there.
Baker lands with a shot to the body.
Baker swats away the attempt to clinch by Barron.
Baker swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Barron swings for the body but Baker moves out of range.
Baker throws a head kick that misses
and Barron counters with a good low kick that Baker was not able to check.
Baker lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.


Barron is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Baker pounces like a tiger and cracks Barron with a vicious hook! Barron is down but not out! Baker follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Brian Baker!
