PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Darragh Kelly (ranked 4287 p4p, 351 weight class) and Sammy Gravano (ranked 6258 p4p, 431 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sammy Gravano!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gravano throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kelly.
Kelly just misses with a punch to the body.
Gravano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Gravano pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Kelly lands a nice shot to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Gravano looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Gravano tries to close the distance and clinch but Kelly swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A quick step to the side and Kelly tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Gravano misses with a low kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Kelly.
Gravano gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Kelly working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Gravano really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelly. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kelly is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Gravano has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Kelly forces the positional change into back control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kelly has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Gravano! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kelly gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
