Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Lawler (ranked 3854 p4p, 453 weight class) and Git Push (ranked 269 p4p, 40 weight class). Git Push looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Lawler!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Git Push!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Push feints and as Lawler raises his hands in defense, Push changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Push controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Push trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Push is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Push stands and throws Lawler's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lawler seems a little lost for a moment, as Push dominates the positioning.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lawler is pushing Push's head away, looking to escape. Push manages to hold on to the position though.
Push looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lawler trying to remain calm as Push controls from the top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Push moves in looking to clinch but Lawler pushes him off.

Lawler tries to sprawl but Push drives through with a takedown into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Push prevents Lawler from standing back up.
Lawler is looking to improve his position.
Lawler is trying to stand back up but Push is controlling him
Push tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lawler knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Push slows the pace down in half guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Push tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Push bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Lawler tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Push controlling his opponent.
Lawler is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lawler really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Push takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lawler is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Push controlling from the full mount.
We've been hearing good reports from Lawler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Git Push dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Lawler misses the shot to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lawler enables Push to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lawler manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Lawler wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Push manages to pass to side control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Push trying to mount his opponent but Lawler defends it.
Git Push has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Lawler falls off balance throwing a combination

and Push counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Push is taking a breather. Lawler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Push content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Push passes to side control.
Lawler stops Push from passing to mount.
Push is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Lawler will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Push's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lawler wants to get back to his feet but Push is dominant here and he's now got Lawler's back!

Push has managed to slip his arm under Lawler's chin. This could be all over... yep, Lawler is tapping out! Submission win for Push.
