PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Beast Boy (ranked 449 p4p, 59 weight class) and Matt Quin (ranked 469 p4p, 63 weight class). Quin is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Captain Jack - Iko Iko. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Boy misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Boy. Quin does a little dance to reset his feet.
Quin misses with a hook. Boy ducked under it nicely.
A nice leg kick lands there from Boy.
Quin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Boy slaps away a takedown attempt from Quin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
It looked like Boy wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

and Boy counters with a stiff right hand.

Quin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Quin connects with a nice short shot to Boy's temple.

Quin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Quin jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Boy manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quin lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Boy down.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Quin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Boy is just riding it out for now. Quin eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Beast Boy.
