Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Skeng Man (ranked 2273 p4p, 304 weight class) and Andy Rodgers (ranked 1950 p4p, 261 weight class). Andy Rodgers will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Skeng Man!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andy Rodgers!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Man is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rodgers.
We've been hearing reports that Man has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Andy Rodgers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rodgers jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Man drops down looking for a counter takedown but Rodgers sprawls and moves away.
Man misses with a takedown attempt - Rodgers sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rodgers loads up on a big right hand but Man slips the punch.
Rodgers misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Man counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Man on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Rodgers scores with a jab. Man acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Man throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Man lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Man tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rodgers defends well and Man ends up having to push Rodgers into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sloppy strikes from Rodgers. Those never looked like landing.
Man tries to counter by clinching up but Rodgers breaks away and moves out of range.
Rodgers has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Rodgers swats away the attempt to clinch by Man.

Rodgers tries to keep at a distance but Man has taken the fight into the clinch.
Rodgers prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Skeng Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Man has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rodgers is trying to keep an underhook but Man manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rodgers makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Man darts in and clinches Rodgers up against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rodgers prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rodgers lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Rodgers tries to land a knee to the head but Man blocks with his arms.
Man has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Rodgers avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Man decides to pull guard.

Rodgers got a little sloppy there for a moment and Man has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodgers has managed to get both his arms back between Man's legs - danger averted.

Man is looking for a triangle but Rodgers pushes his legs off easily.

Man has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rodgers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Man isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rodgers stacks Man on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rodgers!
Rodgers slips into full mount, dodging the strikes by Man.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Man is working to get back to half guard.

Rodgers get's back to his feet.

Man shoots in and bounces Rodgers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Rodgers working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Man.

Man is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rodgers is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rodgers has escaped and now he's on top!


Rodgers stands up and waves to Man to follow him.

Rodgers lands with a cross.
Man cracks the inside of Rodgers's front leg.
Man is looking to clinch.
Rodgers throws a jab when Man was well out of range.
Rodgers stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rodgers wants it to stay on the feet.
Man ducks under a wild hook from Rodgers.
Man moves away from the strike by Rodgers.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rodgers drops Man with a beautiful combination! Man stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Rodgers is looking for the KO!


It looks like Skeng Man has been cut.
Rodgers lunges at Man with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Man's hand.


Man is rocked!
Man changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rodgers tries to avoid it but Man manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rodgers to the ground. Rodgers escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rodgers tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Man shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rodgers as he avoids it easily.
Man is looking to clinch.

Man looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rodgers is looking to escape.
Man uses his free foot to push down on Rodgers's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rodgers.
Man working some short elbows here. He postures up to throw some more ground and pound but Rodgers slips a leg through to get back to half guard. Nice work.

Rodgers is defending against the submission attempts here by Man.

Man wants to free his trapped foot but Rodgers is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Man seems to be working for a kimura but Rodgers defends the submission attempt.
Man not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Rodgers manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Rodgers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Man shoots in for a takedown but Rodgers shows good takedown defense.

Rodgers throws a hook but Man avoids it easily.
Man appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Rodgers tries a head kick but it misses.
Man shoots for a double leg takedown but Rodgers sprawls well. He's pushed Man's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Man takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Man slips under a jab from Rodgers.

Man shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rodgers's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Man working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Man throws an elbow that misses. Rodgers uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Man's guard. Nice move by Rodgers!

Man looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Rodgers puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Man is looking to improve his position.

Rodgers decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Man throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rodgers's waist but Rodgers gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Man off to one side.
Rodgers with the counter takedown but Man avoids it easily.
Rodgers fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Man looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Man shoots for a takedown but Rodgers saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rodgers changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Man doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Rodgers. Man does a little dance to reset his feet.
Man is looking to counter the offense by Rodgers and move into the clinch.
Man takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Andy Rodgers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rodgers throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Man on the side of the head.

Man fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rodgers avoids it really well and circles away.

Man keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rodgers uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Andy Rodgers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rodgers lands a nice hook to Man's body. Man takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Andy Rodgers was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
