The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smerdo lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Smerdo cracks the inside of Vasla's front leg.

Smerdo moves into the clinch.

Smerdo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smerdo misses with the combination.

Vasla rushes Smerdo and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Vasla avoiding damage as Smerdo throws knees to the body.

Smerdo manages to pull guard.
Vasla trying to control the position from guard on top but Smerdo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Smerdo is on top in guard.

Smerdo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smerdo looking to sit in guard and control but Vasla gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Vasla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Smerdo keeping full guard, as Vasla tries to pass.
Smerdo controls Vasla momentarily but Vasla frees himself.
Smerdo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vasla on the ground.
Vasla won't allow Smerdo to sweep him here.
Vasla content to stall in guard here.
Smerdo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Vasla is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Smerdo tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Vasla is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Smerdo is tapping! Great win for Vasla!
