Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerard Geeson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Rome!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Geeson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Rome controlling the position for now.
Geeson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Rome is squirming around, avoiding Geeson's attempts to control the action.
Rome bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rome controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Rome really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Geeson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rome passes Geeson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Geeson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Rome slips a nice elbow through Geeson's hands, connecting with Geeson's forehead.

Rome looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Rome is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Geeson is surviving well by controlling Rome's body position as best he can.
Rome landing strikes from the mount.
Rome tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Geeson gets back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Geeson tries to kick Rome off but Rome keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rome looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Rome is taking a breather. Geeson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rome shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Geeson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Rome quickly recovers to half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rome can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Geeson defends it easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Let's hope that Rome has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rome seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Rome.

Rome misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Rome fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Geeson to the ground. Rome is now in Geeson's guard.
Geeson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rome's guard.

Geeson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rome is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Rome is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Geeson wants to control from the top but Rome keeps moving.

Jake Rome comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rome has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
