Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Menezes (ranked 2529 p4p, 317 weight class) and Dre Battle (ranked 2641 p4p, 338 weight class). Dre Battle is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arthur Menezes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dre Battle!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Battle moves into range and connects with a jab.
Menezes waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Battle.
A nice combination there by Battle.
Menezes shoots and misses
and Battle counters with a nice uppercut.

Menezes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Menezes prevents Battle from escaping the position.
Battle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Menezes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Menezes tries for a kimura but Battle is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Menezes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Battle sees it coming and defends easily.

Menezes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Menezes seems to be working for a kimura but Battle defends the submission attempt.
Menezes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Battle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Menezes is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Battle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Menezes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Battle has managed to get both his arms back between Menezes's legs - danger averted.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Battle working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Menezes's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Battle connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Menezes scrambles back to his feet.

Menezes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Battle manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Battle lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Menezes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Battle scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Battle throws a combination. Menezes tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Battle fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Menezes, pushing him back against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Menezes has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Battle after a bit of a struggle.
Battle is leaning against Menezes and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Battle lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Menezes has Battle pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Battle manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Menezes tries to close the distance and clinch but Battle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Battle lands a left and a right that send Menezes crashing to the mat, dazed. Battle thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Battle counters with a crisp right that sends Menezes to the canvas! Battle follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
