PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between George Peterson (ranked 20733 p4p, 782 weight class) and Scott Columbus (ranked 18239 p4p, 763 weight class). Peterson comes into the arena with Rhyme Asylum - Poison Penmanship blaring out of the sound system. Columbus has chosen Blood Of The Kings as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Peterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Scott Columbus!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Columbus.

The fighters circle momentarily. Peterson darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Columbus cracks the inside of Peterson's front leg.
Peterson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Columbus.

Columbus doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

George Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Columbus rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Columbus wants to counter with a clinch but Peterson pushes him away.

Columbus let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Scott Columbus will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Peterson moves out of range of the strikes.
Columbus lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Columbus takes one to the side of the head.
Columbus misses with a straight left.
Peterson misses with an uppercut. Columbus saw that one coming.
Columbus throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Peterson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

and Columbus counters with a nice body shot.
Columbus checks a low kick from Peterson.
As Peterson backs off Columbus throws a huge counter combo but Peterson manages to avoid it all.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Columbus misses the jab.
Columbus scores with a jab to the jaw.
Columbus cracks Peterson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Peterson throws a solid leg kick but Columbus takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Peterson.
Columbus wants to counter the offense by Peterson and move into the clinch position.

Columbus scores a knockdown with a big right hand! Peterson beats the count and gets back to his feet. The referee asks him to walk forwards and it appears he is OK so we'll continue the bout.

Columbus misses with a head kick.
Oh Peterson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Columbus blocks the body kick.
Peterson seems to have got his legs back now.
Columbus lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

letting Columbus counter with a right hand.

Peterson misses with a double jab.

Columbus lands a head kick that bluckles Peterson and drops him to the canvas. He's still conscious but it looks like it's going to take him the full 10 seconds to get back his senses! He's up on 9 and seems to be just about OK to continue.... the referee agrees and we're back to the action with Columbus no doubt looking to push for a finish!

Columbus cracks Peterson with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Peterson is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Peterson is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!

Columbus throws out a counter right but Peterson avoids it with no problem.
Peterson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Columbus throws an overhand right that lands on Peterson's shoulder, as Peterson tries to avoid the shot.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Columbus checks a leg kick.
Columbus lands with a nice body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Columbus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Columbus cracks Peterson with a left hand that drops him to the canvas, up against the ropes! Can Peterson get back up in time? 3, 4, 5, 6, 7... he's on one knee... 8, 9... he's up! 'Walk towards me' says the referee. Peterson looks steady enough to continue so we're going to continue!
Peterson walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Scott Columbus!
After winning the bout, Scott Columbus thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
