PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vick Venom (ranked 4846 p4p, 159 weight class) and Johnny Dawson (ranked 6276 p4p, 191 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Venom might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Once bitten twice shy-by CINDERELLA. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dawson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Venom lands a jab to Dawson's midsection.

Dawson rushes Venom and presses him up against the cage.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Dawson has eaten all the pies!
Venom blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dawson swings wildly with an uppercut but Venom uses good head movement to avoid it.
Venom wants to stall.
Venom drops down looking for an ankle pick but Dawson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Dawson closes the distance but Venom moves to the side
and Venom counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Venom lands a really nice looking cross but Dawson seems unphased.
Dawson tries for a takedown but Venom sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dawson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dawson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Venom sprawls well. Venom wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dawson gets slowly back to his feet.
Venom lands a body shot.
Venom keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dawson needs to keep his hands up - Venom had a free shot at his head there.
Venom lands an overhand right.
Venom has been working on his balance at Makoa - Hilo Cheapest Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Dawson.

Venom closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dawson quickly recovers to half guard.

Venom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dawson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Venom winds up and cracks Dawson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Venom lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Dawson quite badly. Dawson pulls Venom in close trying to recover. Venom postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Dawson on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Dawson doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

In his post fight interview, Vick Venom started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
