Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joao Vitor Xavier (ranked 2722 p4p, 286 weight class) and Mike Van Rijn (ranked 1005 p4p, 117 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Van Rijn!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Rijn misses with a head kick.
Xavier was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A big left from Xavier misses.
Van Rijn throws a head kick that half lands.
Van Rijn is looking to chop away at Xavier's legs.
A thudding body kick lands there by Van Rijn!
Xavier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Van Rijn manages to avoid it.
Van Rijn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Xavier throwing a counter right hand but Van Rijn manages to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Xavier misses the target.
Xavier misses with a hook
and Van Rijn counters with a big head kick but Xavier shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Xavier lands a jab-cross combination.
It looks like Mike Van Rijn has been cut.
Van Rijn tries to land a leg kick but Xavier saw it coming and moves away.
Van Rijn lands with a slapping head kick.
Xavier is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Xavier drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Oh Xavier is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Van Rijn tries to bum rush Xavier with a series of wild strikes but Xavier uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
An attempted straight right counter from Xavier misses the target.
Van Rijn misses with a wild combination.
Xavier swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Xavier throws a body shot but no joy.
Van Rijn cracks Xavier on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Xavier falls backwards against the cage. Van Rijn follows up with more strikes that drop Xavier to his knees. Van Rijn keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Xavier! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Van Rijn!
