Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gum Shoe (ranked 348 p4p, 53 weight class) and Quinoa Smiff (ranked 380 p4p, 61 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gum Shoe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Quinoa Smiff!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shoe throws a jab but it's blocked by Smiff.
Shoe throws a low kick but Smiff avoids it.
Shoe tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smiff tries to clinch up but Shoe circles away and keeps his distance.
A low kick from Smiff is predictable there
and Shoe counters with a low kick, right behind Smiff 's knee.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shoe, as that shot connected.
Smiff fails to land with a series of punches.

Smiff shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Shoe is wriggling around but Smiff manages to pass to half guard.
Smiff works his foot free and advances to mount.
Shoe avoids a series of strikes thrown by Smiff.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smiff wants to control the pace but Shoe is squirming around nicely.
Poor strikes thrown by Smiff there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Smiff wants to take Shoe's back here but Shoe is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Shoe can't escape the position.
Smiff has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Smiff unloads with some shots from mount but Shoe bucks and avoids them well.
Smiff trying to control but Shoe is having none of it.
Shoe tries to reverse the position but Smiff maintains control.

Smiff raining down shots from the mount!
Smiff won't let Shoe get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Shoe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smiff on the ground.
Smiff looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smiff avoids the attempt from Shoe to control.
Smiff landing shots from mount.
Smiff can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Shoe is looking to escape.
Shoe gets back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smiff is looking for a kimura here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Shoe pushes Smiff off looking to stand but Smiff dives back in and keeps control.
Smiff prevents Shoe from improving his position.
Shoe is not content to let Smiff control the position.
Shoe works his way to full guard. Good work.
Shoe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smiff's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smiff is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Smiff looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Smiff throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Shoe trying to stand up but can't free himself from Smiff's guard.

Smiff is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Shoe is aware though and is defending well.
Shoe's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Smiff is looking to sweep but instead, Shoe has passed into half guard.

Smiff actively working from the bottom here.
Smiff is in trouble now - Shoe has advanced to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Quinoa Smiff dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Shoe lands with a kick to the temple. Smiff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A good leg kick by Shoe.
Smiff shoots in for a takedown but Shoe shows good takedown defense.
Shoe misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Quinoa Smiff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smiff moves out of range of the body kick.
Shoe fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Smiff.
Shoe lands a glancing blow to the side of Smiff's head.
Smiff avoids a kick to the body.

Smiff fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Shoe to the ground. Smiff is now in Shoe's guard.
Shoe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smiff is controlling him.
Smiff trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Shoe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Smiff is controlling him.
Smiff trying to control the position from guard on top but Shoe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Shoe has control of Smiff's left arm, preventing Smiff from doing any damage.
Smiff pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shoe is keeping the position for now.
Smiff pushes down on Shoe's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Shoe wants to control but Smiff is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Smiff is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Shoe is looking for a sweep. Smiff is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Shoe is looking to escape.
Shoe wants to control but Smiff is keeping busy.
Shoe wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Smiff is looking to land body kicks.
Shoe is looking to counter with a body kick.
Smiff lands with a good body shot.
Smiff blocks a head kick by Shoe.
Nice body punch from Shoe.
Smiff tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Shoe manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Smiff drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Smiff misses with a takedown attempt - Shoe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smiff tries to score a power double leg takedown but Shoe sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smiff somewhat.
A little feinted left hand from Shoe on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Gum Shoe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quinoa Smiff.
Shoe defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smiff.
Shoe lands with a kick to the temple. Smiff shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Shoe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Gum Shoe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Shoe gets caught flat footed, as Smiff shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Shoe pushes Smiff off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Shoe looks to land a left hand but Smiff moved out of range nicely.
Smiff changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Shoe pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smiff throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Smiff bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shoe wants to get back to his feet.
Smiff scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Shoe to see if he's OK.
Shoe is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Shoe sneaks out the side door and pushes Smiff away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
Shoe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smiff paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Smiff fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shoe manages to avoid it.
Smiff doesn't manage to clinch there - Shoe circles away.
Shoe takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Smiff scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Smiff tries to pass to full mount but Shoe defends it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gum Shoe dominated that second round.
That's time! Shoe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


A looping hook to the body misses from Smiff. Shoe does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shoe leaves Smiff with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
It looked like Shoe was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Smiff.
Smiff doesn't manage to clinch there - Shoe circles away.
Smiff avoids a kick to the body.
Smiff misses with a body kick.
Shoe throws a sloppy head kick and Smiff moves out of range easily.
Shoe is looking to slow Smiff down with leg kicks.
Shoe stuffs the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smiff keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A nice side step and Smiff releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Shoe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smiff moves away.
Shoe throws a nice outside leg kick.
Smiff misses with a low kick.

Shoe throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Smiff decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Shoe slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Smiff won't allow Shoe to get back to his feet.
Smiff preventing the sweep.
Shoe is working hard here to advance position.
Smiff loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Smiff stands and throws Shoe's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Smiff connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Shoe some visible discomfort.

Smiff sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Shoe is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Shoe is trying to control Smiff's posture but Smiff avoids it.

Smiff tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Shoe controls the position for a moment.

Shoe throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Smiff drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Smiff stands and throws Shoe's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Shoe regains half guard.

Shoe is defending against the submission attempts here by Smiff.
Smiff is looking to stall here but Shoe recovers full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shoe wants to stand and escape but Smiff is having none of it.
Smiff wants to control from the top but Shoe keeps moving.
Shoe trying to control the position.
Shoe is wriggling around but Smiff manages to pass to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Smiff is trying to control the action in half guard but Shoe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Smiff content to control rather than advance.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gum Shoe.
I think Shoe has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
