PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Rick Ross (ranked 5415 p4p, 545 weight class) and Dam Son (ranked 18118 p4p, 758 weight class). Ross kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Rick Ross - Live Fast Die Young. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Ross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 2, fighting out of New York, Dam Son!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Son lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Son throws a lazy right hand but Ross sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Nice defenses there by Ross.
Ross throws a big counter combination but Son scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Son pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Son throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ross on the side of the head.
Son rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Ross counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Dam Son has been cut.
Ross feints and then cracks Son's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Son down.
Ross misses with an uppercut. Son saw that one coming.
Ross throws a lazy right hand but Son sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ross throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Son cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Son throws a looping overhand right but Ross ducks down to avoid it.
Ross misses with a wild body shot.
Son lands a nice shot that snaps Ross's head back.


It looks like Rick Ross has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Son lands with a nice body punch.
Son tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross ducks under a wild hook from Son.
An attempted straight right counter from Ross misses the target.
An inside leg kick from Ross misses.
Son let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Son moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ross takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Son tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Son tries to close the distance and clinch but Ross swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dam Son seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ross scores with a nice strike.
Ross takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Son on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Son swings widly with a right hand
and Ross connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Son throws a sloppy body shot
and Ross counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Son takes one on the chin but seems OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Son lands a nice looking body shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Son throws a body shot but no joy.
Ross takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Son scores with a jab to the jaw.
Son scores with a jab. Ross acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Ross is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Son.
Son has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Son keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ross throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A nice side step and Son releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Son misses with a straight right.
Son pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ross throws an overhand right that lands on Son's shoulder, as Son tries to avoid the shot.

Ross has closed the distance and engaged Son in a clinch.

Ross's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dam Son dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


Ross throws a hook but Son blocks it.
Son is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Son ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ross moves away.
Son scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Son swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Ross swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
A combination from Son does no damage.
Nice uppercut there from Son.
Son steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ross.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ross scores with a nice hook to the head.
Ross struggles to land a body shot inside as Son controls his hands.
Ross tries a body shot but Son blocks it.
Ross is looking to break free of the clinch but Son has double underhooks.
Son misses with a knee to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ross avoiding damage as Son throws knees to the body.
Son misses with a knee strike.

Ross manages to break the clinch.
Son lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ross misses with a two punch combination.
Son looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Ross tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Son throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ross was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
A punch lands to the side of Ross 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Son throws out a head kick that Ross doesn't see coming - it connects and sends Ross crashing to the mat face first! He's bounced up to his knees and is scrambling to get back to his feet and beat the count. He's up on 5 but still looks a bit groggy; will the referee allow it to continue??? He's taking a good look into Ross's eyes and has decided to let it go on!


Ross is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ross is wiping some vaseline out of his eye. Son doesn't give a rats ass about fair play and cracks him with a massive hook to the side of the head! Ross crumples to the floor out cold! The cornerman is going to be in Ross's bad books for that mishap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dam Son!
Dam Son was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
