Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Hard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Johnny Umbutu!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hard pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Umbutu back to the cage. Hard follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
It looks like Johnny Umbutu has been cut.
Umbutu looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Hard tests Umbutu's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Umbutu has closed the distance and engaged Hard in a clinch.
Hard is fighting off a takedown attempt but Umbutu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hard to the mat. Hard regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hard is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Umbutu trying to control but Hard is working from the bottom.
Hard is looking to stand up but Umbutu isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Hard drops Umbutu with a beautiful combination! Umbutu stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hard is looking for the KO!
Umbutu is rocked!
Hard definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Hard connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Umbutu tumbling to the canvas! Hard pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Umbutu was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mike Hard!
