PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Algot Uggla (ranked 2712 p4p, 0 weight class) and Suren Nazarethyan (ranked 9436 p4p, 565 weight class). Nazarethyan has chosen Amerika as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Algot Uggla!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 44 - 31 - 2, fighting out of London, Suren Nazarethyan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nazarethyan takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Uggla scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nazarethyan wants to control but Uggla is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Uggla wants to work for an arm triangle but Nazarethyan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Nazarethyan is nestled in close to Uggla, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Uggla is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Nazarethyan pulls his head out easily.

Nazarethyan is keen to just control but Uggla is a slippery customer.
Uggla tries to roll over but Nazarethyan keeps him under control.

Uggla has his feet on Nazarethyan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Uggla's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Nazarethyan wants to sweep but no luck.
Nazarethyan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Uggla's guard.

Uggla manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Nazarethyan manages to get himself to full guard.

Uggla wants to control from the top but Nazarethyan keeps moving.
Uggla keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Nazarethyan's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Algot Uggla will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Uggla throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nazarethyan was covering up waiting for the punch and Uggla finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Algot Uggla overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Uggla bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Nazarethyan throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Uggla wants to pass to mount but Nazarethyan is defending the position.

Nazarethyan tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Nazarethyan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Uggla's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Uggla's back!
Uggla is trying to get back to his feet but Nazarethyan has full control of the position and if anything, Uggla has just worked his way into a worse spot.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Algot Uggla.
Well Uggla has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Algot Uggla bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
