Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Alvin Cline (ranked 5953 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandro Chabappa (ranked 5951 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alexandro Chabappa!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cline misses with a takedown attempt
and Cline takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Chabappa dives in and scores a takedown into Cline's guard.
Cline is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Chabappa missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Chabappa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cline dives on top into guard.


Cline avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Chabappa working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cline doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cline manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chabappa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cline wanted to stand there but Chabappa had control of the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Chabappa rushes Cline and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Chabappa jumps guard and drags Cline to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Cline wants to stand but Chabappa has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cline stands up and waves to Chabappa to follow him.

Cline shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Cline has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Chabappa is trying to keep an underhook but Cline manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Cline might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Chabappa pulls Cline in close to prevent any damage.

Cline decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Cline stands and steps away. Chabappa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Cline seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Chabappa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cline sprawls well initially but Chabappa persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Chabappa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Cline has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chabappa is working away from the top position though.
Chabappa wants to control but Cline is keeping him busy.
Cline is looking to improve his position.
Cline is looking to control Chabappa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cline avoid being mounted?
Chabappa thows a huge punch but Cline dodges it nicely.

Chabappa's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Chabappa duly obliges.


It looks like Alvin Cline has been cut.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cline enables Chabappa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cline manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Chabappa slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Chabappa gets to his feet. Cline looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Cline tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chabappa swats him away and circles back towards the center.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chabappa misses with a wild combination.
Alvin Cline is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cline looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Chabappa puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cline is looking to control Chabappa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cline avoid being mounted?

Chabappa wants to work for an arm triangle but Cline is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Chabappa tries to keep at a distance but Cline has taken the fight into the clinch.
Chabappa manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Cline has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Chabappa regains guard immediately.

Chabappa scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Chabappa throws a lazy head kick

and Cline counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cline.
Cline fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Chabappa throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cline blocks it with crossed arms.

Cline is fighting off a takedown attempt but Chabappa is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cline to the mat. Cline regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Chabappa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Cline misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Chabappa feints and as Cline raises his hands in defense, Chabappa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Cline pushes Chabappa off and scrambles back to his feet.
Chabappa has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Cline throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Alexandro Chabappa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chabappa takes the fight into the clinch.
Cline tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Chabappa smiles and moves away.

Chabappa moves into range and clinches up with Cline.

Chabappa wants to break free but Cline has control.

Chabappa manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Chabappa is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Chabappa has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cline has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Cline is fighting to break Chabappa's control of his arms but Chabappa is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Chabappa is working an open guard so Cline takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chabappa shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Cline eats them both and turns towards Chabappa to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Chabappa slaps away a takedown attempt from Cline, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Cline throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Cline gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Alexandro Chabappa is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Well Chabappa has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
