PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evgenii Mamchenko (ranked 2000 p4p, 258 weight class) and Slade Wilson (ranked 1145 p4p, 163 weight class). Wilson has chosen Hypnotize - The Notorious B.I.G. as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Slade Wilson enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Evgenii Mamchenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 3, fighting out of London, Slade Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson missing with a left hand there. Mamchenko was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Mamchenko throws a big counter combination but Wilson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mamchenko manages to avoid it.

Mamchenko drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mamchenko working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Wilson can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilson tries to improve position but can't.
Mamchenko postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Wilson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mamchenko wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mamchenko is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wilson will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mamchenko in particular looking to stall.
Mamchenko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wilson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wilson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mamchenko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mamchenko seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Wilson for as long as he can get away with.

I would just about give that final round to Slade Wilson.
