Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mohsin Zaidi (ranked 4991 p4p, 572 weight class) and Ray Rorden (ranked 4423 p4p, 517 weight class). Ray Rorden has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mohsin Zaidi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Rorden!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Rorden misses.
Zaidi attempts a counter takedown but Rorden avoids it well and moves away.
Rorden misses with a wild body shot.
Zaidi fires out a quick counter leg kick but Rorden just manages to avoid it.
Zaidi gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Rorden counters with a left and a right that stings Zaidi.
Rorden takes a swing at Zaidi's ribcage but misses.
Zaidi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Nice takedown defense from Rorden. No joy for Zaidi on that attempt.
Despite the aggression on Rorden's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Zaidi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rorden wants to get back to his feet but Zaidi passes into half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zaidi winds up and cracks Rorden with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Zaidi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rorden wants to get back to his feet.
Zaidi looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rorden can do anything to dispel that myth.
Zaidi is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Rorden is trying to stand.

Rorden has hold of Zaidi's hands but Zaidi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rorden is looking to escape.

Ground and pound from Zaidi.
Zaidi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Zaidi is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Zaidi slips a nice elbow through Rorden's hands, connecting with Rorden's forehead.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Zaidi lands a nice short elbow.

Zaidi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Zaidi lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Zaidi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rorden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Zaidi working over Rorden with some ground and pound. Rorden looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zaidi prevents Rorden from standing back up.

Rorden is refusing to be controlled, as Zaidi sits in half guard.
Zaidi looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rorden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Zaidi is nestled in close to Rorden, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Rorden pushes Zaidi off looking to stand but Zaidi dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Zaidi lands a nice short elbow.


Rorden is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zaidi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rorden is still in real trouble! Can Zaidi finish him?
Zaidi scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Zaidi seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Zaidi drops an elbow to the side of Rorden's head.
Zaidi is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Rorden is hurt! He's hurt bad - Zaidi fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Rorden from any more punishment! Congratulations to Zaidi! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mohsin Zaidi!
