Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamato throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've been told by Yamato's head coaches at Roosters Coop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Griffin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Griffin throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Yamato sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Yamato appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Griffin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yamato swivels and escapes.

Akihito Yamato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shawn Griffin.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Yamato sprawls well. Yamato wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Griffin gets slowly back to his feet.

It looked like Yamato was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Griffin.

Griffin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Yamato defends it well.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Griffin lands a nice short elbow.

Griffin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Griffin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
