Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Winston Gunn (ranked 5828 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitaly Minakov (ranked 5831 p4p, 605 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Minakov closes the distance and pushes Gunn back into the cage.

Minakov works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Minakov slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Minakov gets to his feet. Gunn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Gunn changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Minakov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

It looks like Minakov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Gunn wants to sweep but no luck.
Minakov not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Minakov cracks Gunn with a solid left hand.
Minakov connects with a couple of short punches.
Minakov is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Minakov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gunn, up you get!

Minakov shoots in and bounces Gunn off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gunn enables Minakov to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gunn manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Minakov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Still in half guard, Minakov seems content to control.
Gunn is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Let's hope that Minakov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Minakov shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gunn is trying to defend but Minakov finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gunn has hold of Minakov's hands but Minakov slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Still in half guard, Minakov seems content to control.
Minakov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Minakov seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
