PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clair Black (ranked 5544 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Patrick (ranked 5744 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Francis DeMontford and Ben Watson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Black looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Patrick has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Black is on him like a limpet, forcing Patrick back against the cage.
Black stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Black is trying to drag Patrick to the mat but Patrick just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Patrick looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Patrick wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Black has him pressed against the cage.

Patrick jumps into guard, dragging Black to the mat.
Black could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Patrick controls Black momentarily but Black frees himself.
Black stops Patrick from standing up.
Black throws a big elbow that misses.

Black drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Patrick manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Black has Patrick in his guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Black can't keep his opponent in guard - Patrick advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Black makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Black.

Patrick drops back, looking for a kneebar! Black looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Black looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Black!

Black lands some shots froms side control.

Black misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Black wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Patrick, who protects the arm well.
Patrick manages to work his way to half guard, despite Black's best efforts.
Black is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Patrick wants to control but Black is keeping busy.
Patrick is looking to escape.
Patrick is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The fighters are battling for position here. Patrick manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Black keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Patrick's head.
Black works over Patrick with some ground and pound from guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patrick utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Patrick not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Black stands up over Patrick, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Patrick is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Patrick looks winded!
Black lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Black throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Patrick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Patrick striking off his back but it's not causing Black any problems.
Black lands a couple of digs.
Black won't allow Patrick to sweep him here.
Patrick has momentary wrist control but Black slips an elbow through the middle.
Black keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Patrick's head.
Black chips away with some ground and pound.

Patrick is rocked!
Black arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Patrick's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
