PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Slipp Rock (ranked 5279 p4p, 549 weight class) and WeDa Champ (ranked 6524 p4p, 610 weight class). Slipp Rock had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Champ.
Champ darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Champ lands with a good body shot.
Champ misses with a double jab.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Rock shoots in looking for a takedown. Champ tries to sprawl out of it but Rock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Champ manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Champ scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rock misses with a looping right.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Champ throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Rock tries to clinch but Champ moves out of range.
Champ scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rock doesn't seem bothered though.
Champ misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rock throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Champ throws a body punch but Rock moves out of range.
WeDa Champ is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rock takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Rock tries to close the distance and clinch but Champ swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice sprawl there from Champ as Rock shoots in.
Horrible takedown attempt by Rock or perhaps it was just good defense by Champ, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slipp Rock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Danga de danga de dang - Champ scores with a four punch combination!

It looks like Slipp Rock has been cut.
Rock closes this distance looking for a takedown but Champ circles away.
No luck for Rock with that takedown attempt.
Champ closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Champ stalks Rock and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rock's face. Rock staggers backwards, shaken.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Champ counters with a nice body shot.
Rock is breathing heavily.
Champ throws a nice looking combination but Rock bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Rock tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Champ stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Champ wants it to stay on the feet.
Champ is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rock rather than just go for the knockout.
Rock dives in and grabs Champ's left leg, looking for a takedown. Champ pushes down on Rock's head and hops out.
Champ lands a jab to the head.
Champ scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rock doesn't seem bothered though.
Champ works the jab nicely.
Rock moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Champ closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Rock! Champ dives in looking to finish! Rock is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
