The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt scores with a decent looking hook.
Schmidt looks to land a combination. Ibragimov sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Agaxan Ibragimov has been cut.
Ibragimov takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
We've been told by Ibragimov's head coaches at Cozad MMA Los Angeles that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Schmidt throws a shot to the body.
Schmidt throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Schmidt closes the distance and clinches.
Ibragimov could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ibragimov is working for takedown but Schmidt is calmly controlling the position for now.
Schmidt lands with a short shot to the head.
Schmidt lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ibragimov.
Ibragimov is breathing heavily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schmidt wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ibragimov breaks from the clinch.
Ibragimov gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Schmidt gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Ibragimov is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gandolf Schmidt!
Gandolf Schmidt decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
