PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barry Martinez (ranked 24200 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cael Cranor (ranked 6032 p4p, 591 weight class). Cael Cranor told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Martinez drives through and clinches with Cranor against the cage.
Martinez stalling.
Cranor is looking to control Martinez's arms but Martinez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Cranor has his back to the cage.
Martinez has Cranor pushed against the cage.
Cranor tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Cranor jumps guard but Martinez stands there with Cranor around his waist. Cranor gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Martinez utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martinez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Martinez has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Cranor has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Cranor trying to control the position but instead, Martinez has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cranor into the cage.

Cranor misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Martinez.
Cranor is trying to pull guard but Martinez has him pressed against the cage.
Barry Martinez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cael Cranor .
Cranor is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Martinez is defending well.
Martinez stalls.
Cranor throws a head punch that misses.
Martinez is pushing Cranor up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Cranor is working for takedown but Martinez is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cranor wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Martinez has him pressed against the cage.
Cranor fails to pull guard.

Cranor wants to stand but Martinez has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Martinez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cranor doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Martinez is tightening it up a little... Cranor has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Cranor reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Cranor taps out! Nice BJJ there by Martinez!
