Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nelson Country!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, The Sun God Ra!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ra throws the left hand but Country avoids the punch easily.
Country feinted with a counter takedown.
Country with a nice cross.


It looks like The Sun God Ra has been cut.
Country closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.


It looks like Nelson Country has been cut.
Ra scores with a sloppy right hand. Country should have avoided that one.
Ra throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Country sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Country ducks under a wild hook from Ra.
Ra uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Ra sizes up Country with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Country looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ra!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Country is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Ra is looking for a sweep.

Country tries for a kimura but Ra is defending well.
Country staying calm.
Ra is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Country is controlling him well.
Ra is trying to escape the position but Country is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sloppy strikes there by Country.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Country thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Ra manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Country wants to advance to full mount but Ra doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Country working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ra is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Country passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Country wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ra keeps working.
Country staying calm.
Ra is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Country off and has taken his back!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ra missing with punches from the back.
Country turns into Ra and is now in his guard.
Ra is trying to keep Country in close.

Ra wants to stand and escape but Country is having none of it.
Country keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ra's head.

Ra pushes Country off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Ra closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ra gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Country.
Country is working for takedown but Ra is calmly controlling the position for now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A head punch on the inside from Ra fails to land.
Ra throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Country breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ra swings away with a body shot that misses
and Country counters with a straight right hand.

Country closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Ra quickly recovers to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but The Sun God Ra will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ra looks to land a left hand but Country moved out of range nicely.
Country half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Country defending well as Ra loads up on a big left hand.
Country seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Country slips a jab from Ra.

Country shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Country controlling the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Country trying to advance position but Ra counters by regaining guard.
Country looking to sit in guard and control but Ra gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ra wants to pass the guard but Country is keeping the position.
Ra loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Country pulls Ra in close to prevent any damage.
Ra throws a strike but Country rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ra pulls Country in close to his closed guard and prevents Country from doing any damage or advancing position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Ra prevents Country from improving position.
Country trying to control the position but Ra is working away.
Country landing strikes.

Country in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Country content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Country is looking to take a break and control but Ra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Ra is trying to improve his position.
Country advances to full mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ra sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Country seems to be working for a kimura but Ra defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Country is working for takedown but Ra is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ra lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Country has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ra is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ra pushes off an throws an elbow but Country leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Ra lands an uppercut.
Country is working for takedown but Ra is calmly controlling the position for now.
Country is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ra pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ra is pressed up against the cage. Country has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ra down to the mat. Ra avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Ra cracks Country with a big right hand and Country goes down!


Country is rocked!
Ra scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Oh Country is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ra loads up on a big left hand. Country felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Ra looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Country can't hide his disappointment, as Ra celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). The Sun God Ra!
After the fight, The Sun God Ra was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
