PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ickey Woods (ranked 4359 p4p, 438 weight class) and Theodore Montgomery (ranked 4935 p4p, 479 weight class). Woods comes into the arena with System of a Down- Chop Suey blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montgomery uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Montgomery lands with a straight right. Woods didn't see that one coming.
Woods takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Montgomery falls off balance throwing a combination
and Woods counters with a straight right hand.
Montgomery takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Montgomery throws an off balance right hand
and Montgomery takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Montgomery throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
It looked like Woods wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Montgomery throws the left hand but Woods avoids the punch easily.

and Montgomery connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Woods tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A little jabbing left from Montgomery on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Montgomery tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woods was well out of range. Poor timing from Montgomery.

A looping hook to the body misses from Montgomery. Woods does a little dance to reset his feet.
Montgomery missing with a left hand there. Woods was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Montgomery walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ickey Woods seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Woods moves into the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Montgomery tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Montgomery lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Woods backwards.

Woods jumps guard.

Montgomery stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Woods swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Montgomery is sitting in close to Woods's body. Woods has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Montgomery is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Montgomery is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Woods.
