Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott John (ranked 1295 p4p, 139 weight class) and Alexander Rewell (ranked 1555 p4p, 171 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Scott John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Alexander Rewell!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rewell.
John finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A big left from Rewell misses.
John lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
John takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Rewell throws a body shot but no joy.
Alexander Rewell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
John throws a big shot that misses.
Rewell tries a quick counter leg kick but John is wise to it.
Rewell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
John looks to score with a jab to the body but Rewell is just out of range.

A telegraphed right hand from Rewell misses the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rewell, as that shot connected.
John keeps Rewell at a distance using the push kick.
John connects with a jab.
John lands a jab to the nose.
John throws a combination that misses
and John takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rewell ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
John throws a nice outside leg kick.
Rewell walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A telegraphed right hand from Rewell misses the target.
John takes a kick to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and John counters with a nice uppercut.

Rewell lands with a kick to the temple. John shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
John tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rewell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rewell scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. John doesn't seem bothered though.
A solid leg kick lands there for Rewell.
John attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rewell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
John looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Rewell looks to land a right hand but John moved out of range.
John is looking to counter with head kicks.
Rewell slips a jab from John.
John misses the jab.
John moves out of range of the body kick from Rewell.
John swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Rewell takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
John tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rewell was well out of range. Poor timing from John.

Rewell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rewell stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rewell.
John swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Rewell finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
John moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Rewell looks to land a left hand but John moved out of range nicely.
John throws a wild body kick that Rewell sees coming a mile off.
John throws a big shot that misses.
Rewell ducks under a wild hook from John.
John scores with a head kick.
Rewell throws a jab but it's blocked by John.

John connects with a nice looking jab.

Rewell ducks right into an uppercut from John.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
John connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
John displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Rewell throws out the jab.

The fighters circling - Rewell throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rewell takes a swing at John's ribcage but misses.
John steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rewell.
A little feinted left hand from John on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
John moves out of range of the body kick from Rewell.

John comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
John fakes the leg kick and cracks Rewell in the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A punch lands to the side of Rewell 's head but he takes it in his stride.

John loads up on a big right hand but Rewell slips the punch.
John uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rewell.
John appears to be looking for a big counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Scott John will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

John shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Despite the aggression on Rewell's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
John slips a straight right by Rewell.
Rewell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Good leg kick by John there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
John connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Rewell might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, John has got the better of the exchanges.

and John counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Rewell lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Rewell has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from John finds it's way round the side to connect with Rewell's head.

John scores with a sloppy right hand. Rewell should have avoided that one.
John throws a shot from downtown. Rewell moves away and avoids it.
John is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rewell can do to turn this around?

John tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rewell manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and John counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Rewell shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
John moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
With the fighters up against the cage, Rewell throws an elbow but misses.
John lands an elbow inside that Rewell shrugs off.
John struggles to land a body shot inside as Rewell controls his hands.
John pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rewell.
John unloads a knee to the mid-section. Rewell lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Rewell takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
John scores with a shoulder strike.
John works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Alexander Rewell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
John lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
John comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like Alexander Rewell has been cut.
Rewell takes a knee to the side of the body.
John misses with a shot to the kidneys.
John tries a knee to the head but Rewell blocks it.
I was talking to John's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Scott John showed his dominance in that final round.
Well John has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
