Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luiz Araujo (ranked 3167 p4p, 406 weight class) and Sergiusz Ataman (ranked 3033 p4p, 389 weight class). Araujo comes to the cage accompanied by Who Shot Ya?. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sergiusz Ataman!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Araujo throws a chopping leg kick but Ataman manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Araujo misses with a takedown attempt
and Ataman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Araujo tries a low kick but Ataman avoids it.
Ataman throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ataman darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Araujo fails with the takedown.
Ataman keeps the fight on the outside.
A jab lands there for Ataman.
Araujo doesn't manage to clinch there - Ataman circles away.
Ataman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Araujo shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luiz Araujo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ataman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Araujo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ataman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Araujo somewhat.
Ataman throws the left hand but Araujo avoids the punch easily.
Araujo gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Ataman.
Ataman has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Ataman there as he acknowledges the shot.
Araujo throws a nice looking combination but Ataman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Ataman lands a leg kick that knocks Araujo off balance momentarily.
Araujo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ataman throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Ataman throws a right hand that Araujo ducks under and follows up with a left that Araujo also avoids with ease.
Sergiusz Ataman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Araujo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Ataman kicks off Araujo and gets to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Araujo takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Ataman is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Araujo had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Araujo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ataman.
Ataman dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Araujo. That did some damage!

Ataman has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Araujo looks for a takedown but Ataman sprawls well.
Ataman moves out of range of the body kick from Araujo.
Ataman fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Araujo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Luiz Araujo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Araujo tries to clinch up but Ataman circles away and keeps his distance.

Araujo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ataman tries to avoid it but Araujo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ataman to the ground. Ataman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ataman's corner calls for a 1-2. Ataman obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Araujo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ataman sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Araujo somewhat.
A little jabbing left from Ataman on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Ataman has managed to clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Ataman - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Ataman is defending well against a takedown attempt.
A short uppercut from Ataman.
Ataman lands a left hand.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Ataman takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Araujo wants to break the clinch but can't.

Araujo is trying to trip Ataman. He has hold of a leg but Ataman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Araujo persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Ataman has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Araujo is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Araujo has had enough of the clinch but Ataman keeps him there for the moment.
Ataman lands a right hand.
Ataman lands with a light punch inside.

Araujo throws a head punch that misses.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Ataman.

Araujo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fighters circle momentarily. Ataman darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ataman keeps the fight on the outside.
Ataman scores with a decent looking hook.
Ataman fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ataman blocks a head kick by Araujo.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ataman darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Ataman stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Sloppy strikes from Ataman. Those never looked like landing.
Araujo tries to clinch but Ataman moves away
and Araujo takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sergiusz Ataman dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Araujo shoots in but no luck this time.
Ataman ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Araujo looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Ataman!
Ataman parries the strikes from Araujo easily there. Araujo is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ataman to escape.
Ataman struggling a bit here.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The referee asks Araujo politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Araujo prefers to stall for the moment though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ataman is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Araujo is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Araujo working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Ataman turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Araujo off and cradles Ataman's limp body as Araujo celebrates with his corner.

Luiz Araujo tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
