PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alton Newcastle (ranked 696 p4p, 35 weight class) and Vyrkyx Dall (ranked 1149 p4p, 58 weight class). Dall has chosen The Worm as his entrance music. Vyrkyx Dall told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newcastle stuffs the takedown attempt from Dall. Dall gets slowly back to his feet.

It looked like Newcastle was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Dall.
Dall takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Newcastle is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dall gets his way!
Vyrkyx Dall has got the better of the ground game so far.

Dall is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Newcastle knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Newcastle for a finish.

Newcastle has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Our spies down at at Sweat inform us that Dall has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Newcastle is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Dall still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Dall has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Dall is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Newcastle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Newcastle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Dall defends it easily.
