PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darius Khaan (ranked 3381 p4p, 352 weight class) and Konrad Curze (ranked 4997 p4p, 499 weight class). Curze comes into a darkened arena with his song building. RIse of the Night Haunter kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darius Khaan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Konrad Curze!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Curze instigates a clinch.
Khaan tries a body shot but Curze blocks it.
Khaan lands a body punch.

Khaan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Khaan cracks Curze with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Khaan has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Curze to stand back up!


Curze is rocked!


It looks like Konrad Curze has been cut.
Khaan keeps the fight on the outside.
Curze is still on wobbly legs! Can Khaan finish him?

Khaan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Curze, pushing him back against the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Khaan prevents the takedown attempt.
A short body shot lands from Khaan as the two fighters clinch.
Curze seems to have recovered his senses.
Curze blocks a body shot from Khaan.

Khaan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Khaan forces Curze back against the cage and clinches.

Khaan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Khaan throws a hook to the side of Curze's head but Curze sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Curze dives in and scores a takedown into Khaan's guard.

Khaan has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Curze has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Our sources have told us that Khaan has been working on his elbows in the gym.

Curze has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Khaan clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Khaan trying to get back to his feet but Curze is in full control for now.

Khaan manages to escape to his feet.
Curze shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Khaan pinned against the cage. Khaan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Curze drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Khaan wants to get back to his feet but Curze is dominant here and he's now got Khaan's back!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Khaan is trying to get back to his feet but Curze has full control of the position and if anything, Khaan has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Khaan trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Curze working for a choke but Khaan is defending well.
My spies in Blackscar Fitness inform me that Curze has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Khaan is trying to stand back up.
Khaan covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khaan is trapped and Curze is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Khaan is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Khaan is taking damage to the body and head.
Curze has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Khaan wants to get back to his feet.
Curze is riding his opponent, not letting Khaan buck him off.

Khaan is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Curze is defended easily by Khaan.
Darius Khaan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konrad Curze.
Curze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Khaan defends it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Curze dives in and grabs Khaan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Khaan pushes down on Curze's head and hops out.
Khaan is looking for a counter combo.

Khaan pushes Curze up against the cage in a clinch.
Curze has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Khaan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Curze goes for a takedown attempt but Khaan pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Khaan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Khaan misses with a straight left.
Khaan misses with a series of wild punches.
Khaan throws out a loose jab but Curze uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The fighters circling - Khaan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Curze swats away the attempt to clinch by Khaan.
Khaan throws a body punch but Curze moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darius Khaan dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Konrad Curze's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Khaan tries to close the distance and clinch but Curze swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Khaan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Curze manages to avoid it.
Khaan scores with a jab.

Curze closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Khaan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Curze looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Some wild striking there from Khaan.

Curze fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Khaan to the ground. Curze is now in Khaan's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khaan wants to stand but Curze is controlling the position.
Curze pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Khaan is keeping the position for now.
Khaan wants to stand and escape but Curze is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Curze with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Khaan has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Curze off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Curze shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khaan's guard.

Khaan scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Khaan tries to land a front kick but Curze steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Khaan goes for a small jab and connects. Now Khaan goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Curze stumbles back but Khaan runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Curze to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Curze will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Darius Khaan!
