Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tapani Kansalainen (ranked 518 p4p, 63 weight class) and Kevin Huang (ranked 1118 p4p, 111 weight class). Huang has chosen Nelly - The Champ as his entrance music. Tapani Kansalainen is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Huang!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huang needs to keep his hands up - Kansalainen had a free shot at his head there.
Kansalainen looks to land a right hand but Huang moved out of range.
Huang misses the shot to the body.
Huang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Huang misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kansalainen.
Huang moves into range and connects with a jab.
Huang takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kansalainen lands a nice shot to the body.
Huang misses with a takedown attempt - Kansalainen sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Huang tests Kansalainen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Huang shoots in but Kansalainen avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Huang fails with the takedown.
Tapani Kansalainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Huang.
No joy there for Kansalainen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Huang throws a body shot but no joy.

Huang closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Kansalainen is trying to control Huang's posture but Huang avoids it.
Kansalainen is not content to let Huang control the position.

Huang lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kansalainen holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Kansalainen is not content to let Huang control the position.
Kansalainen is trying to get back to full guard.
Kansalainen is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Gangsterdamage that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Huang thows a huge punch but Kansalainen dodges it nicely.
Huang has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Huang throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Kansalainen to regain full guard.

Huang is looking to advance position but Kansalainen won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Kansalainen is refusing to be controlled, as Huang sits in half guard.

Huang perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Kansalainen has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Huang is working away from the top position though.

Huang seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kansalainen is trying to stand.

Huang wants to pass to mount but Kansalainen is defending the position.
Huang is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Huang prevents Kansalainen from improving his position.
Kansalainen is controlling Huang's trapped leg to prevent Huang from advancing to side control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

It looked like Kansalainen wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Huang tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kansalainen swivels and escapes.
Kansalainen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Huang bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Huang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kansalainen scores with a punch to the head.
Huang shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kansalainen as he avoids it easily.
Tapani Kansalainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Huang.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Huang fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Huang slips a jab from Kansalainen.
And Huang tries to counter it with a takedown but Kansalainen pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Huang shoots for a takedown but Kansalainen saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kansalainen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kansalainen wants it to stay on the feet.

Huang darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Kansalainen cracks Huang with a good jab.
Nice straight punches there by Huang. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Huang.
Nice sprawl there from Kansalainen as Huang shoots in.

Huang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Kansalainen is positioning himself well to prevent Huang advancing to mount.
My spies in Jitz MMA inform me that Huang has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Huang wants to work for an arm triangle but Kansalainen is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

A relieved looking Kevin Huang thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
