The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It seemed like Giannis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Giannis ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Silva moves away.
Silva was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
A jab from Silva misses.
Silva chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Giannis can pounce on him.
A telegraphed right hand from Giannis misses the target.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Silva, as that shot connected.
Giannis connects with a solid leg kick.
Silva wants to clinch up but Giannis keeps it at a distance.
Giannis takes one on the button.
Giannis moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva connects with a crisp jab.
Silva thuds his right hand into Giannis's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Giannis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Giannis misses with a double jab.
We've been hearing reports that Silva has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
