The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbot throws a series of punches but Gracie moves out of range.
Abbot throws a jab but it's blocked by Gracie.
Gracie showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Abbot.

Abbot fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Gracie sprawls well initially but Abbot persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie is adopting a defensive guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Abbot manages to get himself to full guard.

Gracie sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Abbot's guard.
Gracie slips a nice elbow through Abbot's hands, connecting with Abbot's forehead.

Gracie has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gracie scores with a big shot! Abbot's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Abbot! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
