Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Keven Walton (ranked 25010 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Power (ranked 5809 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Keven Walton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Power!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walton dives in and grabs Power's left leg, looking for a takedown. Power pushes down on Walton's head and hops out.
A head kick by Power misses
and Power takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Walton misses with a takedown attempt - Power sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Power is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.

Power moves into the clinch successfully.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Walton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Power prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keven Walton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Power manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Walton is fighting to break Power's control of his arms but Power is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Power utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Power wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Power throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Power has his feet on Walton's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Walton shoots in looking for a takedown but Power manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walton's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Power wants to counter the offense by Walton and move into the clinch position.
Walton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Power shoots in but Walton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Power tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Walton swivels and escapes.

Power forces Walton back against the cage and clinches.
Power is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Walton to keep the fight standing.

Power manages to pull guard.
Power seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Walton stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Power throws a right and a left that Walton avoids nicely.
Power circles away from the clinch attempt.

Power closes the distance and clinches.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Walton is trying to push Power away but Power has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Power lands with a left to the head.

Power ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Power no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Power is controlling Walton's posture.

Power has momentary wrist control but Walton slips an elbow through the middle.
Walton missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Walton working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Walton throwing strikes from guard but Power blocks nicely.
Power has Walton pulled in close to control his posture.
Power wants to sweep here but Walton controlling him for the moment.
Walton postures up in Power's guard and throws a big left but Power blocks it.

Power is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Power manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Power blocking some punches.
Power lands with a left to the head.
Power has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Walton after a bit of a struggle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Walton takes a shot to the head.
Walton misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Power dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Power closes the distance and clinches.
Power dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Walton tries for a takedown but Power manages to get underhooks.
Power wants to break free but Walton has control.

Power pulls guard.
Power has control of Walton's left arm, preventing Walton from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Power doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Walton gets to his feet. Power looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Power is looking to land body kicks.

Power instigates a clinch.

Power will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Walton up against the cage.
Power avoiding damage.
Power receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Power is trying to pull guard but Walton has him pressed against the cage.
Walton is pressed up against the cage. Power has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Walton down to the mat. Walton avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Walton moves out of range of the strikes.
Walton is trying hard to land a takedown here. Power sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Power misses with a series of wild punches.
Nick Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Power misses the shot to the body.
Walton fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keven Walton. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walton avoids a kick to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Walton.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Power tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Power is working for takedown but Walton is calmly controlling the position for now.

Power tries to break the clinch but Walton is controlling the position.
Power is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Power's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Walton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Walton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Power bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Walton's guard.

Power is pushing down on Walton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Walton is fighting to maintain full guard but Power has managed to sneak the leg through.
Power has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Power throwing shots but Walton is blocking nicely.

Power passes to full mount!

Power is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Power closes the distance and clinches.
Power tries for a takedown but Walton manages to get underhooks.
Walton has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Power avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walton tries to pull guard but Power holds him up against the cage and eventually Walton drops back down to his feet.

Nick Power showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. And we move into the final round!


Walton shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Power as he jumps to the side.
Power shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walton defends it nicely.

Power has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stalling in the clinch from Power.
Walton throws a punch but it's blocked by Power.
The referee is keeping an eye on Power - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Walton misses with the head strike.
Walton wants a takedown.
Walton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Power.
Power drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Keven Walton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Power.
Walton prevents a takedown attempt there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Power jumps into guard, dragging Walton to the mat.
Power looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Power had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Walton defends it easily.

Walton gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Power misses with a low kick as Walton jumps back.
An attempted straight right counter from Walton misses the target.
Power shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walton as he jumps to the side.
Power takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Power fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Walton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nick Power is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Power shoots for a takedown but Walton saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Walton misses its target.

Walton has Power up against the cage in a clinch.

Power is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Walton to keep the fight standing.

Power drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Power pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Walton fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Power ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Walton fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nick Power comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Power has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
