The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valdez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sanchez as he jumps to the side.
Fred Valdez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sanchez tries to clinch up but Valdez circles away and keeps his distance.

Sanchez tries to keep at a distance but Valdez has taken the fight into the clinch.
Valdez goes for a takedown in the clinch but Sanchez prevents it.
Sanchez tries to throw a body punch but Valdez avoids it by throwing Sanchez back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Valdez jumps guard but Sanchez turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Valdez wants to improve his position but Sanchez is controlling well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sanchez's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

You can see the frustration on Valdez's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Valdez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Sanchez avoids it really well and circles away.
Valdez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sanchez tries to avoid it but Valdez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sanchez to the ground. Sanchez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Sanchez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Valdez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sanchez.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Valdez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Sanchez is pushing Valdez up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Valdez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
