Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lebron James (ranked 3238 p4p, 336 weight class) and Eli Jones (ranked 4987 p4p, 500 weight class). Lebron James could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Eli Jones's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lebron James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eli Jones!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands with a nice combination. James backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Lebron James has been cut.
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
James fails to land with a series of punches.

James gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
James misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jones.

James breaks from the clinch.
James seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

James closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jones quickly recovers to half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

James moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Jones drops James with a beautiful combination! James stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Jones is looking for the KO!

James shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. James showed some decent athleticism there.

James slows the pace down in half guard.
Jones is in trouble now - James has advanced to mount!
Jones is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James takes Jones's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Jones is in trouble.

James is working the ground and pound. Can Jones escape?
James gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Jones covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
The referee is taking a good look at Jones as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from James!

James is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jones defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Jones is trying to get back to his feet but James has full control of the position and if anything, Jones has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Jones is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

James's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Jones looks to score with a jab to the body but James is just out of range.
James throws a big counter combination but Jones scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

James has taken the fight to the clinch.

James turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Jones wants to get back to his feet but James drags him back down.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around?

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
James is chipping away with strikes.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
James has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Jones wants to get back to striking at distance but James won't allow it.

James pulls guard successfully.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

James is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
James changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.
James controlling from the top position.
James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but James is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jones is looking to stand back up but James counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Jones.

James is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. James eventually gives up the hold.

James wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jones is trying to stand up here but James is controlling him well.
James seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Lebron James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones tries to kick James off but James keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

James is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jones defends it well.
Jones pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.

Jones has hold of James's hands but James slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

James looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Jones manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. James keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
James tries to land knees in the clinch but Jones avoids the damage to the body.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but James has him pressed against the cage.

James ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. James no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Eli Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of James is proving hard to escape from.
James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jones trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lebron James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Jones throws his legs up looking for a submission but James uses it to pass to side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for James, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
