IFC XXXIX PBP Commentary



The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sampson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Sampson keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

It looks like Bruce Mafaking has been cut.
Sampson swinging wildly here.
Sampson cracks a nice hook into Mafaking's ribs.
Mafaking keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sampson misses with a looping right.
Sampson looks to throw the jab but Mafaking is out of range.

and Mafaking counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sampson won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mafaking tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mafaking has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sampson feints a jab promting Mafaking to slip. Sampson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Mafaking slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Sampson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Sampson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Sampson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sampson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mafakings jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Mafaking closes the distance and clinches.
Mafaking tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mafaking gets control of Sampson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mafaking will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mafaking looking for a sweep. Not yet Mafaking, not yet.
Sampson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mafaking's guard.

Mafaking is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sampson pulls his head out easily.

Sampson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mafaking doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sampson.
