Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Max Paddy (ranked 4259 p4p, 437 weight class) and Ty Sterling James (ranked 25584 p4p, 731 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Max Paddy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ty Sterling James!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sterling James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Paddy clinches with his opponent.

Sterling James's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A head kick misses from Paddy.
And Sterling James tries to counter it with a takedown but Paddy pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Paddy looking to sit in guard and control but Sterling James gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paddy has his foot on Sterling James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sterling James works his way back into a safe position though.

Paddy is just content to waste time from the top position. Sterling James takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Paddy tries to stand and escape but Sterling James is controlling the position.
Paddy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sterling James keeps working.

Paddy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Paddy is nestled in close to Sterling James, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Paddy dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Sterling James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Paddy misses the shot to the body.
Sterling James tries to clinch there but Paddy circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Paddy checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Paddy throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Sterling James tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Sterling James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paddy but Paddy pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Paddy slaps away a takedown attempt from Sterling James, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sterling James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Paddy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sterling James with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Paddy to score with a decent uppercut.

Max Paddy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Paddy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sterling James for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well Paddy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
