PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ghita Pluta (ranked 22287 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Eagle (ranked 8002 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eagle changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pluta tries to avoid it but Eagle manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pluta to the ground. Pluta escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pluta looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Pluta slaps away a takedown attempt from Eagle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nice sprawl there from Pluta as Eagle shoots in.
Ghita Pluta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ian Eagle.

Eagle forces Pluta back against the cage and clinches.

Eagle might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pluta haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pluta escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eagle gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Eagle tries a low kick but Pluta avoids it.

Pluta gets tackled into the cage by Eagle. Eagle maintains the clinch.

Eagle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Eagle drives through and clinches with Pluta against the cage.
Eagle jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pluta walks away with a smile on his face. Eagle gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Ian Eagle showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Eagle lands a big right hand that sends Pluta crashing to the mat! Eagle stays standing though and waves Pluta back to his feet!

It looks like Ghita Pluta has been cut.
Eagle shoots in but Pluta avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Pluta defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Eagle.

Eagle fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pluta, pushing him back against the cage.
Pluta has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Eagle after a bit of a struggle.

Ghita Pluta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ian Eagle.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Eagle misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pluta tries to counter with a takedown but Eagle is quick to defend against it.

Eagle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pluta sprawls well. Pluta wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Eagle gets slowly back to his feet.

Eagle shoots in for a takedown but Pluta shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Eagle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pluta is fending him off so far but Eagle persists. Nope, Pluta circles away and we're back to standing.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Eagle has control of Pluta's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pluta regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Eagle postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Pluta in real trouble here! The ref calls for Pluta to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
