Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ethan Carter Williams!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cox gets tackled into the cage by Williams. Williams maintains the clinch.
Williams looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Williams is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Cox can't fight it off and eventually Williams manages to take the fight to the floor. Cox looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Williams pushing down on Cox's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Cox is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at School of Hard Knocks, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Cox wants to improve his position but Williams is controlling well.

Williams seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Cox wants to get back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Williams is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Williams clinches up with Cox and pushes him back against the cage.
Williams is trying to drag Cox to the mat but Cox just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Cox has a couple of punches blocked by Williams.

Williams makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Williams gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Cox regains guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cox is breathing heavily.

Cox working for submissions but it's allowed Williams to get to half guard.
Well, if Williams is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Williams moves to back control.
Williams really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Cox.

Williams is trying to trip Cox. He has hold of a leg but Cox is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Williams persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Williams is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cox wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Williams manages to pass to side control.

Williams uses his free foot to push down on Cox's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Cox.

Williams has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Williams.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ethan Carter Williams showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Cox doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Williams has Cox pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Williams pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cox tumbling to the mat - Williams dives into Cox's guard.

Williams has control of Cox's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Cox regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Cox has given up his back here. Will Williams look for the submission or keep pounding away?
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Cox wants to control his opponent's hands but Williams gets his hands free.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Well Williams has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
