Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrick Jones!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joyner misses with a takedown attempt
and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jones scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Joyner's half guard.
Jones throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Joyner tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Joyner ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Joyner no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Jones darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Jones is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Jones is looking to advance position but Joyner won't allow it.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Joyner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Joyner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

Joyner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! Joyner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.

Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones has his foot on Joyner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Joyner works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones pushes Joyner off and gets back to his feet.
Joyner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Joyner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Jones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones is taking a breather. Joyner says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jones is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Joyner sees it coming and defends easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jones thows a huge punch but Joyner dodges it nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Joyner is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Joyner avoid being mounted?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derrick Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Jones tries to bum rush Joyner with a series of wild strikes but Joyner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Joyner circles away quickly and effectively.
Joyner went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Jerrold Joyner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Jones makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Jones throws a right hand that Joyner ducks under and follows up with a left that Joyner also avoids with ease.
Joyner tries for a takedown but Jones sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

It looked like Joyner was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up but Joyner swats him away and circles back towards the center.

And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Joyner pushes his down on his head and steps out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jones leaves Joyner with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Derrick Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
