Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karelin Pripyat (ranked 1163 p4p, 124 weight class) and Doug Bell (ranked 1351 p4p, 141 weight class). Doug Bell has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karelin Pripyat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Doug Bell!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pripyat sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Pripyat changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Nice uppercut there from Bell.


It looks like Karelin Pripyat has been cut.

Pripyat drives through with a takedown into Bell's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Pripyat throwing strikes from guard but Bell blocks nicely.
Bell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pripyat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bell seems keen to control Pripyat's posture.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pripyat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pripyat with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Bell not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Pripyat has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Pripyat postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Pripyat drops back looking for a leg! Bell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bell manages to kick Pripyat off! Pripyat jumps back into Bell's guard.

Pripyat is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Pripyat makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bell trying to keep a closed guard but Pripyat is proving a slippery customer.
Bell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Pripyat has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pripyat drops back looking for a leg! Bell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bell manages to kick Pripyat off! Pripyat jumps back into Bell's guard.
Pripyat will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Bell is trying to keep Pripyat in close.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pripyat with a nice head shot there.

Pripyat thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Pripyat trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Pripyat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pripyat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Bell is trying to control the position but Pripyat postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bell trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Pripyat working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Pripyat drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pripyat jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bell is on top in guard.

Bell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pripyat has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bell has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Pripyat to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bell is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Pripyat pulls down on the head and he's put Bell to sleep! This one is all over!
