With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Richards!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richards looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Chapman looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Chapman is working hard here to advance position.
Richards looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Chapman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Richards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chapman is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richards working a defensive guard but Chapman passes into half guard.
Richards looks winded!
Chapman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Chapman escapes and gets back to his feet.

Chapman clinches up against the cage.

Chapman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Richards can't fight it off and eventually Chapman manages to take the fight to the floor. Richards looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Chapman is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Chapman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Richards is trying to keep Chapman in close.
Chapman controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Chapman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Richards moves into the clinch successfully.
Richards gets underhooks to prevent Chapman's takedown attempt.

Richards must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Richards has hold of one of Chapman's legs. Chapman is fighting the takedown attempt but Richards gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Chapman decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Richards, up you get!

Chapman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Richards looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Richards bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Aaron Richards seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Richards avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Chapman gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Chapman is looking for a kimura but Richards is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Chapman to get the leverage.

Chapman is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Chapman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Chapman wants to work for an arm triangle but Richards is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Chapman has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Richards decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chapman slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Chapman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Richards's guard.

Chapman has Richards up against the cage in a clinch.

Chapman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Richards clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Richards is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Chapman gets his way!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Chapman working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Chapman slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Chi Chapman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Richards is trying to break free.
Chapman lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.

Chapman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Chapman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Richards turns into Chapman and is now in his guard.

Aaron Richards has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chi Chapman is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Richards postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Chapman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Richards, into his guard.


And that's the end of the fight!
Chi Chapman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chapman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
