Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jose Carlos Luciano (ranked 935 p4p, 122 weight class) and Soylent Green (ranked 698 p4p, 101 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Luciano throws a lazy uppercut
and Green counters with a left to the body.
Green lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Luciano takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Luciano defending well as Green loads up on a big left hand.
It looked like Luciano wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
A shot to the body from Luciano misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Luciano avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Luciano moves out of range as Green strikes.
Green misses with a body shot.
Luciano is looking to counter with a body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Green lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Luciano looks to score with a jab to the body but Green is just out of range.
Green swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Green bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Luciano's head.

Green tries a head kick but it misses.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Green has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Luciano counters with a series of strikes. Green will be more careful next time no doubt.

We've been told by Luciano's head coaches at White Eagle that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Luciano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Soylent Green seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Green, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Luciano jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Green misses with an uppercut
and Luciano counters with a right hand to the body.
Green misses with a low kick.
Luciano stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Green.
Donk. Green catches Luciano right on the button with a cross.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Luciano ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Luciano is looking to counter with head kicks.
Luciano throws a leg kick but Green moved away.
Green lands a nice shot to the body.
Luciano lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Green at a distance.
Green throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Luciano displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Green throws out the jab.
Luciano drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Luciano misses with a lunging right hand
and Green makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Luciano really felt that one!
Luciano lands a nice looking kick to the body. Green takes a step back to recover.
Green misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Green throws a chopping leg kick but Luciano manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

and Green counters with a nice uppercut.
Green fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Green tries a head kick but it misses.

Green lands a big head kick that sends Luciano tumbling to the mat! Green takes a step backwards and waves Luciano back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Luciano is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
