Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bone (ranked 804 p4p, 109 weight class) and Patrick Cleary (ranked 2440 p4p, 295 weight class). Bone comes to the cage accompanied by You'll Never Walk Alone. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 2, fighting out of New York, Patrick Cleary!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bone lands with an overhand left.
Bone looks to score with a jab to the body but Cleary is just out of range.

Cleary fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bone to the ground. Cleary is now in Bone's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cleary controls the pace.
Cleary trying to control the position from guard on top but Bone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bone trying to keep a closed guard but Cleary is proving a slippery customer.
Bone looking for a sweep. Not yet Bone, not yet.

Cleary drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cleary has Bone in his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cleary manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bone manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bone is on top in guard.

Cleary is looking for a triangle but Bone pushes his legs off easily.
Bone is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bone is pushing down on Cleary's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cleary is fighting to maintain full guard but Bone has managed to sneak the leg through.

Bone is pressing down on Cleary's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cleary is holding on for now.

Bone wants to control but Cleary is keeping him busy.
Bone is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Cleary pushes Bone off and gets back to his feet.

Cleary tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bone sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cleary somewhat.
Bone keeps the fight on the outside.
Bone scores with a decent looking hook.
Bone throws a body punch but Cleary moves out of range.
Cleary shoots in for a takedown but Bone shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Cleary tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bone defends well and Cleary ends up having to push Bone into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Joe Bone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Cleary.

It looked like Bone was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Cleary.

and Bone counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Cleary throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Bone tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Cleary is in Bone's guard.

Cleary bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bone throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bone swings for the body but Cleary moves out of range.
Cleary looks for a takedown but Bone sprawls well.

Cleary smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

A nice side step and Cleary releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Bone takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

A little jabbing left from Cleary on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cleary fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bone sprawls well initially but Cleary persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Cleary is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Patrick Cleary has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cleary controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Joe Bone.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bone, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
