PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jacks (ranked 2202 p4p, 277 weight class) and Frank Murdock (ranked 5304 p4p, 548 weight class). Murdock has chosen Flashbacks to 'Nam as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Chad Campbell and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murdock jabbing away but nothing is landing.

A telegraphed right hand from Jacks misses the target.

Jacks doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Jacks jabs Murdock right on the nose. Murdock blinks but takes it well.

Murdock misses with a low kick as Jacks jumps back.
Jacks was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Murdock lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jacks circles away quickly and effectively.
Murdock throws an overhand right that lands on Jacks's shoulder, as Jacks tries to avoid the shot.
Murdock throws a series of punches but Jacks avoids them all with ease.
Jacks looks to score with a jab to the body but Murdock is just out of range.

Murdock closes the distance and clinches.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Murdock swings away with an uppercut that misses.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jacks creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Murdock misses with a punch to the body.

Murdock breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Jacks counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Murdock wants to stand back up but Jacks manages to pass into side control.
Murdock can't do much from the bottom here.

Jacks thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Murdock is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Jacks is staying active.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Murdock.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Jacks.
