Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Peter Parker!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Eric Staal!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Anthony Taglia and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Staal misses with a hook.

Parker moves into the clinch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Staal.
Staal stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Parker breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Parker swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Staal counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Staal circles away from the clinch attempt.
Staal moves out of range of the strikes.
Parker misses with a lunging right hand
and Staal counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Parker lands a nice hook to Staal's body. Staal takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Parker wants to clinch up but Staal keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Staal misses with a leg kick.
Staal circles away from the clinch attempt
and Staal counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Parker throws out a loose jab but Staal uses good head movement to avoid it.
A nice side step and Staal releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Parker tries to clinch up but Staal circles away and keeps his distance.

Staal fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Parker manages to avoid it.
Staal works Parker's body with a nice hook.
Parker throws an overhand right that lands on Staal's shoulder, as Staal tries to avoid the shot.
Parker fails with an attempt to clinch.
Staal uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Parker.

Parker moves into the clinch.
Staal tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Parker trying to control the position but instead, Staal has worked for underhooks and has pushed Parker into the cage.
Parker swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Parker scores with a shot to the side of Staal's head.
Parker misses with some punches.
Parker can't find room to land a body shot as Staal controls the action.
Staal throws a head punch that misses.
Parker lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Staal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Parker closes the distance and pushes Staal back into the cage.
Staal has Parker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Parker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Parker misses with a body punch.
Parker misses with a punch on the inside.

Staal pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Parker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Staal moves out of range of the strikes.
Staal lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Good exchange - Staal coming out on top.
Parker tries to close the distance and clinch up but Staal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Staal! But no joy.
The fighters circling - Staal throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Staal tries to score a power double leg takedown but Parker sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Staal somewhat.
Peter Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parker closes the distance and pushes Staal back into the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Staal breaks from the clinch.
Parker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Parker throws out a leg kick but Staal moves out of range and Parker only half commits.
Parker tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Staal appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Parker scores with a body shot.
Staal has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Staal there as he acknowledges the shot.
Parker scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Parker ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Parker is looking to counter the offense by Staal and move into the clinch.
Staal works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Staal gets tackled into the cage by Parker. Parker maintains the clinch.
A shot in the inside from Parker.
Staal slowing the pace effectively.
Parker tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Staal scores with a shoulder strike.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Parker throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Staals head.
Staal struggles to land a body shot inside as Parker controls his hands.
Staal is trying to stall.

Staal breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Parker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Staal. That did some damage!
Parker is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Staal misses with a body kick.
Staal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Parker circles away quickly and effectively.
Peter Parker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Staal connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Parker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Parker lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Parker clinches up against the cage.
Parker misses with a punch on the inside.

Parker breaks from the clinch.
Parker misses with a leg kick.
Parker wants to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Parker dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Staal lands a nice leg kick that just misses Parker's sensitive parts.
Staal misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Parker.
Parker wants to clinch up but Staal keeps it at a distance.
Staal keeps the fight on the outside.
Parker misses with a jab to the body
and Staal connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Parker fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Staal checks it well.
Parker on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Parker lands with a thumping leg kick.
Good standup being displayed there by Staal as he connects with a hook.

Parker tries to clinch up but Staal circles away and keeps his distance.
Parker tries to close the distance and clinch but Staal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Staal is trying to counter with his kicks.

and Staal counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Parker works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Parker closes the distance looking to clinch
and Staal counters with a straight right hand.
Parker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Staal manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Parker throws out a powerful jab.
Parker tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Staal paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Staal takes one to the side of the head.
Parker tries to clinch up but Staal circles away and keeps his distance.
Parker lands a brutal head kick. Staal looks out on his feet and Parker throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
