PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Soyster Nine (ranked 2129 p4p, 282 weight class) and ThorHGH Grasman (ranked 2449 p4p, 320 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Soyster Nine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, ThorHGH Grasman!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Russell Pearce and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nine tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Grasman swivels and escapes.
It seemed like Grasman was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Nine ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grasman moves away.
Nine misses the shot to the body.
Nine looks to throw the jab but Grasman is out of range.
Grasman is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nine tries to clinch up.
A little jabbing left from Grasman on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A big right from Grasman misses.
Nine gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Grasman counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nine fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Grasman avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Soyster Nine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grasman cracks Nine with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Nine shoots and misses
and Grasman counters with a lovely straight right hand!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nine goes for a double leg but Grasman avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Grasman continues to drive forward.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Grasman! But no joy.
Nine takes a jab right on the kisser.


Nine is rocked!
ThorHGH Grasman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Grasman gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Oh Nine is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Grasman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nine is one step ahead there.
Nine seems to have got his legs back now.
Grasman wants to get back to his feet but Nine is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Grasman told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Nine throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grasman wants to stand and escape but Nine is having none of it.
Nine trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Grasman looking for a sweep. Not yet Grasman, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Grasman wants to get back to his feet but Nine is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Grasman wants to sweep here but Nine controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Grasman can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nine lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Nine takes a swing at Grasman's ribcage but misses.
Grasman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nine throws a right hand that misses
and Grasman counters with a nice uppercut.
Nine tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grasman swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nine scores with a hook to the body. Grasman takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Nine closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Grasman did well to prevent Nine getting side control.
Grasman wants to improve his position but Nine is controlling well.
Grasman has his hands clasped together around Nine's back. He's all about the action.
Nine trying to control the action but Grasman is working from the bottom.

Nine is looking for a kimura here.
Grasman controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Grasman really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Grasman is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nine is trying to work for a kimura but Grasman is defending well.

Nine is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nine not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nine throwing shots but Grasman is blocking nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Soyster Nine will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Grasman on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Nine's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Grasman connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Nine scrambles back to his feet.
Nine with a lazy takedown attempt
and Grasman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
ThorHGH Grasman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Grasman throws an uppercut from hell that sends Nine clean off his feet! He's out cold! Grasman stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). ThorHGH Grasman!
ThorHGH Grasman decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
In defeat, Soyster Nine stepped up to the mic, saying 'What can I say, I was beaten by the better fighter today. See you all in two weeks. '.
