The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Dirk Anderson and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matveev misses with the combination.
Lewis moves away from the strike by Matveev.
Lewis tries to counter with a takedown but Matveev is quick to defend against it.
Lewis definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lewis walks into a straight right hand from Matveev.
Matveev scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Lewis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lewis.
Matveev scores with a sloppy right hand. Lewis should have avoided that one.
Matveev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lewis.

It seemed like Matveev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matveev lands a nice shot that snaps Lewis's head back.

Matveev lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Lewis with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Matveev to score with a decent uppercut.
Lewis will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenny Lewis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lewis is trying to drag Matveev to the mat but Matveev just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Lewis tries to work over Matveev's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Matveev is looking to break free of the clinch but Lewis has double underhooks.

Lewis has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Matveev regains guard immediately.
Lewis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lewis working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Lewis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Matveev is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lewis yanks on the arm and Matveev is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lewis.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kenny Lewis!
