PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Laranja (ranked 6508 p4p, 662 weight class) and Miguel Salcedo (ranked 6373 p4p, 655 weight class). Laranja comes to the cage accompanied by Jimmy Cliff - Samba Reggae. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laranja slips a jab from Salcedo.
Laranja wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Salcedo misses with an uppercut. Laranja saw that one coming.
Salcedo throws the left hand but Laranja avoids the punch easily.
Laranja blocks a jab.

Laranja rushes Salcedo and presses him up against the cage.
Salcedo wants to break free but Laranja has control.
Laranja's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Salcedo misses with some punches.
Laranja jumps guard but Salcedo stands there with Laranja around his waist. Laranja gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Laranja pulls guard successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salcedo got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laranja has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Salcedo has managed to get both his arms back between Laranja's legs - danger averted.

Salcedo has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Laranja to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Salcedo is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Laranja pulls down on the head and he's put Salcedo to sleep! This one is all over!

A relieved looking Rodrigo Laranja thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
